English II/ Honors English II Notable Quotes:
“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” - To Kill A Mockingbird
"I thought it was "If a body catch a body," I said. 'Anyway, I keep picturing this big field of rye and all. Thousands of little kids, and nobody's around- nobody big, I mean- except me. And I'm standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff-- I mean if they're running and they don't look where they're going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. that's all I'd do all day. I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it's crazy, but that's the only thing I'd really like to be. I know it's crazy.' " - The Catcher in the Rye
“War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.” - 1984
“Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night, seven times cursed and seven times sealed....Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God Himself. Never.” - Night
“The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away.” - Lord of the Flies
“Why am I trying to become what I don’t want to be … when all I want is out there, waiting for me the minute I say I know who I am.” - Death of a Salesman

Grading Policy
Here is a breakdown on how my grading practices work: 70%: Assessments (Tests, Essays, Major Projects and Vocabulary Tests) 10%: Practice Work (Classwork and Homework) 20%: Semester Final |
Retakes
(English 10 / Honor's English 10 / Senior English / Medieval-Gothic Literature) Retakes are a way for students to show they have understood concepts, even after the initial assessment that was taken in class. Students may take retakes on assessments (quizzes and tests). If a student wishes to do so, they must meet with me to discuss the retake process. Retakes must be taken after school. I will take the retake's grade as the new grade for the assessment. It is the student's responsibility to come to me if they wish to retake an assessment. |
